[users@httpd] Compatibility List?

Hello;

What I would like to do, or find is some type of listing that shows what versions of Apache are suppurted by 3rd party stuff like ChilliSoft, PHP, ActivePerl (perl) etc.

It seems like things get updated so fast, or I miss what is currently supported and what is not, and now I would like to volunteer myself to make this (with the help of users) to create a page or two where users, and other people can go to and check to see if their version of Apache is supported by a 3rd party 'program.'

This what we wont have new comers in the group asking if this is supported and why its not working etc. They can just check out the page, and then it will be able to tell them what's supported and what's not.

Any comments? Suggestions?

Thanx!

Yes I do.

There are links to the module home's where people can read about
each module.

No, it's not. UNIX just makes these types of things easier.

That would be great :)

The "matrix" as you call it is in fact all of the module home pages
where one would research whether module X is what they want. The
ApacheToolBox ties them all together. The fact that it works on
Unix is beside the point - you are welcome to port it to Windows,
et al...

In case you really don't know "StuffIt" (a Windows/MacOS/Unix
program) can read and write Tar.GZ files on my Unix, Windows, and
Mac platforms.

UNIX is not a four-letter word anymore...

Maybe I'll work up something and then show yall waht I mean. . .

And can you post a link to this 'matrix' thats on this site? I have been all
over it looking for it and still can't find it..

The site DOES say what works where - Unix stuff for Unix Apache -
Windows Stuff for Windows Apache -- that is how the compatibility
matrix is worked out. You cannot expect a Unix module to behave
well on Windows Apache. get it?

Knock yourself out. :) What worked on 1.3.26 is supposed to work
on 1.3.27 on the SAME platform (ie, Unix for Unix and Windows for
Windows.) If you can create a matrix that proves otherwise -
well, great.

Maybe I did not clarify myself...

I want something like this:

Apache Version: Programs:

Apache 1.3.27 - Program A, Program B etc

Apache 1.3.26 - Chillisoft v3.26, PHP 1.4.. etc

Apache 2.0.39 - Program A, Program B etc.

Apache 2.0.39 - Chilisoft3.2.6, PHP x.x.x.x

Apache x.x.xx Program A, Program B, Program C, etc

Basically what version of 3rd party software are able to work with the
different version(s) of Apache. I did not see anything like this on
apachetoolbox.com

Like right now I need PHP, MySQL, Perl and a stable version of Apache to
work with ALL my needs. I have Apache 2.0.39, and I know for a fact that the
latest version of ChilliSoft ASP works with Apache2.0.39, but not Apache
2.0.40. That make sense? I'm pretty knowledgeable as to what works with what
apache version in Windows, but *nix I have no idea cause I have not had to
install apache on a *nic platform yet.....

Do I make sense, or is my idea a lost cause? I think it would be really
cool.. and I think I could make a cool little page in ASP or something.... I
could host it, or someone else could.. It would prolly just be a page with a
bunch of info about the componets out there that are able to work with
Apache, and the different versions. . .

Let me know.

Been done - see http://www.apachetoolbox.com/

You will always have people, new and otherwise, asking about
compatibility.

Windows does Windows things and Unix does Unix things...
