Custom error Pages

Hi All:

I have set up tomcat/apache to host my web application. Now I want to throw custom error pages for 404/500 errors. I read in the archives that error-code tag in web.xml will work. I tried the same but it doesn't work. If somebody has faced the similar situation and come up with a solution, please help as early as possible.
