Hi,
the code is now in trunk, all under the web subproject.
It contains many TODO and some commented code, but I'd like to remove all this stuff one time this part has been tested extensively by us, for some time ... it's working, but many eyes are better than mine :-) .
One important test before finishing this part will be running also under Tomcat, I'll try to make it as soon as possible.

I assume the web server is required to run your unit tests? If so, do you actually need to use the Apache web server, or would Tomcat be sufficient? We already generate a WAR file for testing web queries - could you add your tests to that? I think we can safely assume that the developer knows how to deploy a WAR file (so we don't need to include any explicit documentation about it in our release notes).

The code is inside the trunk, and has been cleaned up (a lot), all is working but there are some things to fix (the flow is not that required by Pivot). I hope to find time to fix it for the 1.4, or max for the 1.4.1 surely.

The source code is in the pivot-dev mailing list (some weeks ago), but at the moment it's missing the README that explains how to setup the Apache Web Server.

The code is in pivot-dev mailing list since some months, but I have to change it to have it respect out latest conventions.
Currently there is a Unit Test that requires all the stuff configured in a local Apache instance (and I'll explain haw to setup it for the test). As soon as possible I'll try to make this working also in one of our war files.
But the code is working, so if possible I'd commit here for the 1.4.

Given the complexity of this part, it's better (safer) to postpone it to the 1.4.1 release, so I/we can do more test.
This could also be integrated in other parts where Basic Authentication is already used (there is a servlet for this, if I remember well), if possible.

I'll put code in trunk, for review.
This contains some utility classes, at the moment (if possible) they will be copied inside the web subproject, but they could be moved for example in core.
A little problem could come from the Unite Test for this part, because it's an Integration Test and needs a manual (and not-so-trivial) setup of the server part (explained in one of the submitted files, ad a README).
So maybe an idea could be to exclude that class from automatic test execution during release/test builds ... let's see how.
In next days I'll submit all this stuff.
