Mahout now available in Cloudera repo
Hi All
I just found that Mahout is available in the clouders repo.
If cloudera hadoop repositories are enabled you can isnatll it using your
distros package manager.
I just installed it with "yum install mahout" in my Fedora machine :-)

Be warned that this will be the 0.5 version which is probably not what you
want.

Hopefully 0.6 will provide better differentiation on what is stable
and what is experimental.
On my side 0.5 version of SSVD suffered from what i consider to be
some moderate performance issues and the trunk version saw a ton of
improvements in both performance and precisions (mostly verified by
users).
I probably also need to write a wiki usage page on this.

Hey All,
Just to note - we have incorporated the current stable release of Mahout in
our repos (0.5). We would be more than happy to work on the integration of
future Mahout stable releases.
We extremely excited about the future of Mahout and look forward to
incorporating those stable releases into CDH.
Best,
Linden

I have a blog article coming on Cloudera's blog about using it and the
CF recommendation system in 0.5. Looking to help out making it all
more approachable for the common user, I think we have a nice example
setup for people.
Special thanks to Sean for helping with the edits on the article.
