There was an existing prototype here: [https://gerrit.cloudera.org/#/c/19722/]

One thing that we want to preserve is the ability to run the dockerised tests with the Java 11 docker image. The prototype uses a different name for the Java 11 docker images, so that would interact with the code that picks the docker image names here: [https://github.com/apache/impala/blob/master/bin/start-impala-cluster.py#L683-L689]

There are also pieces of code that depend on the specific make target, which is also different. i.e. [https://github.com/apache/impala/blob/master/bin/jenkins/dockerized-impala-run-tests.sh#L83]
