You have reach the max number of broker, check your OJB.properties with the
option :  whenExhaustedAction=0.

Check if you close your transaction.

what does the following error message mean?

Used ConnectionManager instance could not obtain a connection: Could not
borrow connection from pool -
org.apache.ojb.broker.metadata.JdbcConnectionDescriptor:
org.apache.ojb.broker.metadata.JdbcConnectionDescriptor
