   I found that it is not possible to keep placing steps out to the right of the main view screen.
   
   When your pipeline gets wide enough to need horizontal scroll bars, trying to drag your icon out to the right on the canvas will not work.  The icon will snap back to the leftmost part of the canvas.

   Still valid remark in current version.
   the canvas should expand when placing a transform near the edge
