Build .so files vs .dll files in cygwin (for pysvn build)

Hi,

I am trying to build pysvn on Cygwin, it first requires the Subversion 
libraries to be built.  The Subversion makefile generates dll files yet 
pysvn is expecting .so files.  Any ideas?

Can either
1) Subversion be made to generate .so files in Cygwin
2) pysvn be made to work with DLL files

What would I need to change to achieve this?
