jsr 261 and 265
Is there any chance that I could represent Apache for JSR-265
(ws-policy) and JSR-261 (ws-addressing)? I would like to push for Apache
agenda (free TCKs, etc) and also try to push the spec in a direction
that is coherent with JBI, JAX-WS (jsr-261), JAX-WSA, etc. I believe
they will be quite important to ServiceMix in the future. AFAIK there is
no one else on these specs.

On Geronimo, we had the TCK binary checked in as Geir mentions, but
it made SVN cry, so we got rid of it. We still have an active
geronimo-tck svn that contains lots of build files (maven 1),
deployment descriptors, stuff for creating reports, and the results
themselves. Basically, everything you need to run the tck and
generate a report sans the tck binary itself. You can run pretty
much any test with a single maven command.
It definitely took us a while to build up that system.
As lots of that stuff is largely tied to a specific Geronimo version
(project.xml files, descriptors, results, etc.), we branch that
content each time we branch Geronimo.
Hope this helps. Happy to provide more info.

This is the discussion I wanted to have while we were waiting for the
tck to arrive.
Of course we would check in the binary, but we would also want to set
up a source repository in order to debug, try different configuration
options, etc.

I'd like to get a feel for how the others have set up the repository.
Is it up to each individual person to extract the tck, create the
source tree, set up run scripts, etc.? How much is common to the
project?

It really doesn't matter that it's source. The thing you do want to
prevent is having anyone alter the TCK. So you'd check in the binary
anyway, right?

They seem to be all different. We started w/ J2EE in SVN, but it was too
big.
As for a common general-tck list, if people want it, it can be done.
I'm not sure what the point would be as people seem to be having a
reasonable time with using TCKs, and the issues that pop up tend to be
specific to the codebase being tested.

Given how long it takes for infrastructure to be set up, maybe we can
start now with the mailing lists. Once that's set up, we can talk
about which repository we want to put the tck into. I'm thinking that
since the tck is distributed as source code we will want to put it
into svn somewhere and have a build environment.
How have other tck projects set up their tck's? Is there a generic-
tck@ alias to which all tck interested parties can subscribe? I know
that tck's are as different as Apache projects, and the Apache tck
projects are likely different yet. Have any tck projects found a
pattern that works well?

It would be included in the JEE TCK, if I understand it right.

Hi Geir,
I think I'm confused. Doesn't Geronimo need to test against the Java
EE platform TCK? Which includes the JPA TCK operating in "server" mode.
Ah, now I understand. The JPA TCK is in two pieces, and when I say
JPA TCK you are thinking only of the stand-alone version. They really
should have split this off into another JSR.
Regarding the cross-project discussion, would it make sense to create
a jpa-tck@ alias for the projects to start the dialog?

I don't know if Geronimo would need it, given that would be tested as

I'm most interested in the JPA TCK. If you let me know when it arrives..
There are several projects that potentially need the JPA TCK,
including Cayenne, OpenJPA, and Geronimo. Is anyone trying to figure
out any synergy among these groups?

Hi Geir,
I've faxed my NDA. Is there a tck@ only wiki or something describing

Dan,
Please fax that to +1 203 665 6400
And note that the PMO, Sun and every spec lead is pretty hosed this week
and next w/ J1 with a hangover recovery the week after, so please adjust
your expectations for getting on those EGs accordingly.
