Help Needed in Configuring Tomcat For Linux VHost

Hello all.  I have setup, successfully that is, the "base model"  Tomcat 
server.  The examples load fine.  Now here is where I have the problem.  I am 
trying to configure several V-Hosts to use and to have JSP/Servlet support 
while the others wont.  Now the userguide is extremely vague in the processes 
that are needed to enable these features on the virtual host.  I have tried 
creating a new apache-tomcat.conf file which only gets rewritten to the 
original content, in conjunction with that I tried creating a xml file for 
the domain name all to no avail.  I hope that there is someone out there that
