HDFS Symbolic Links support - What's the status ?

Hi,

There are some JIRAs for supporting symbolic links in HDFS (e.g. HDFS-245,
HADOOP-6421) but that feature does not seem to be available, at least from
HDFS commands? E.g. the "hadoop df -ln" option described in design doc is
not available

Can anyone please comment what is the current status ?

Does filecontext.createSymlink can still create a HDFS symlink even if
there is no command line option ?
