'now' datatype???

Hi!
I try to use "now" datatype in my database descriptor file, but this
value is always NULL. Is it a bug or i missed something?

<value dbcol="last_mod_date" param="lastUodated" type="now"/>

Env:
Cocoon 2.0.1 Tomcat 4.0.4b3, JDK1.3.1 (Blackdown), RedHat 7.3, Mysql
3.23
