Torque and NULL defaults

How do I specify a null default value for a column?
What I want is to initialize a MySQL TIMESTAMP column to null 
so that it will be initialized with the current time -- if I leave
out the default attribute, will this have the same effect?

(timestamp is a special case in MySQL, which is why I wonder)
