Problem with customizer in cvs jetspeed

Hi,

I am using the latest version of jetspeed from CVS (about 4 hours
ago) with tomcat 3.3m3.

When I use the close button (the X) as a logged in user, it removes
the selected portlet - fine. But I can't seem to find a way to get
the portlet back - is this a bug - or am I looking in the wrong
place?

Thanks,
Chris

Shouldn't there be some way to get the portlet back after you close it?
The way the button operates now, its more like its a 'remove' button, except
the customizer still has it checked, which confuses even more.

I work with the latest cvs head.
However my current client uses an older version of Jetspeed. We will upgrade
to 1.3a2 when available.

I've been developing and testing on Win2000, Redhat Linux, Solaris, JDK 1.3,
Tomcat 3.2.1, Catalina 4.0-b6, Weblogic 6, and Resin.

Im in the process of creating a matrix of servlet containers and how to
configure Jetspeed on them.
Hope to have something by next week when I start updating the documentation.

I am also looking for any excuse to get a Mac running OS X....

I develop Jetspeed on a NT4 laptop with JDK1.2.2 and test with Tomcat 3.2.1
and Catalina 4.0b5

I also have a test dual-processor server with Win2000, JDK1.3, Catalina 4.0b5.

As soon as I have updated my Cube to Mac OS X, I'll also test and develop
on this platform.

working installation

Posted by Walter Brameld <wb...@newrivernet.com>.
Hello,

I've been trying to get Jetspeed to work for over two weeks and I am
getting very frustrated. I have some questions for those of you who have
gotten it working.

 - What machine architecture and OS are you running?
 - What versions of JDK and Tomcat (or if you're not using Tomcat, then
   what?)
 - Which version of Jetspeed (binary, CVS sources, ...)?
 - What kind of problems did you run into, and how did you get around
   them?

If there is a FAQ that answers these questions, then please point me there
instead.

Thank you.

OK ...but how are you meant to get the portlet back - it still seems
to be enabled via the customizer and so checking/unchecking that has
no effect. Was/Is there meant to be a link on the user page to
re-open the portlet?

I was thinking that closing it would be the same as customizing your
settings and removing/unchecking the portlet - so you could go via
the customizer to bring it back?

I must admit, I vaguely remember some discussion on this - but can't
find/don't recall the details/results.

Chris

It's not a bug as such since it's what I wanted to implement but it's
certainly possible to change this behavior so that the close is not
persistent and only lives as long as the session...
It all depends on what the user consensus is on this feature.
