Release branch 1.5.0

Hi everyone,

... I'd like to create the 1.5.0 release branch somewhen today. Before I
can do that I need someone to review #1646 (FINERACT-1177).

Could you also give me some feedback on which one of the other 16 currently
open PRs are ready. I'd suggest that anything (issues, PRs) that has no
feedback in the next 24h moves to release 1.6.0 (again, no worries, the
release process starts somewhat immediately after this one). Reminder: we
have to get a security fix out of the door hence the urgency.

Thanks again for your help.

Cheers,

Aleks

What needs to be done to get the release out?

Anything others can do?

Re: Release branch 1.5.0

Joseph,

Thanks for these contributions and welcome to the community! It's great to
see all your proactive effort so please keep up the good work. I changed
the permissions on your account so you should be able to assign yourself to
issues. I assigned you to the three issues that you requested being
assigned to.

Cheers,

Ed

Re: Release branch 1.5.0

Posted by Joseph Irungu Makara <jo...@strathmore.edu>.
Hi everyone,

@Aleks I have worked on FINERACT-854
<https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/FINERACT-854> that has some items
that will help in 1.5.0 if we have not cut the release yet. I did not see
the release tag in github, so I believe that is not released yet.
In part it fixes

   1. Some SQL Injections and
   2. Issues with runreports - It is imperative to get 1.5.0 out with fix
for reports running as I can see in gitter and a couple of other jiras re
this - if we could please have community volunteers? to expedite review
for FINERACT-854 ~ so that pull request #1671
<https://github.com/apache/fineract/pull/1671> can be added into the
   main branch for 1.5.0.. Thanks

I am also not able *to assign jira tickets to myself*. I would like to
request someone with jira permissions? to please assign to me issues:

   1. FINERACT-854 - unable to assign it to myself that is why you can't
   see that in progress.
   2. FINERACT-1340 - Inviting reviewers to look into this too
   3. FINERACT-969

Aleks,

Thanks for your persistent reminders. +1 from my side to simply get the
release out and anything that's still pending can go in the next release.

Re: Release branch 1.5.0

Posted by Aleksandar Vidakovic <ch...@monkeysintown.com>.
Hi everyone,

... anyone still working on something important that should be included in
release 1.5.0? If not I would start the release process (at the latest on
Monday).

Any concerns etc. please let me know.

Cheers,

Aleks

Hi everyone,

... just wanted to check with you if we can proceed to cut a release? I see
that there's now only a handful of "in progress" issues left (5) together
with another 94 "open" issues.

Please respond here, because we have to get the security fix out of the
door.

Cheers,

Aleks

Hi Ed,

... no problem... a day here or day I think doesn't matter. I have myself a
new mini task (to document the new external JAR drop-in feature).

I will follow those PRs you mentioned and open the release branch when they
are ready.

Thanks for getting more people on board...

Re: Release branch 1.5.0

Aleks,

Thanks for continuing to drive on this. I have reached out to some other
developers to review #1646 as well as #1623 for the failing build.

I'm also working with the team at Finflux to do a review of
https://github.com/apache/fineract/pull/1562

Likewise, still trying to get a review of
https://github.com/apache/fineract/pull/1644

I would think https://github.com/apache/fineract/pull/1653 would be another
simple review - @Manthan Surkar <ma...@gmail.com> can you take a
look.

It would be nice to include all of the above as this release would continue
a healthy number of significant external contributions from partners and
the like, strong momentum towards an upstream development model :)
