fs corruption?
Hi,
i just did an import to my repository (to a wrong location, but that
shouldn't matter). and then part of it seemed corrupted.
the repository is at http://svn.elixus.org/repos, built from svn
trunk rev 6817. it recently went thru the fs scheme change with
dump/load and ran fine for a while.
now, svn log on the repository paths is fine. but svn log -v runs
only till rev 637, then it croaks:
svn_fs__bdb_read_rep: no such representation `5dz'
checking out neither /, /member, /member/clkao would work. others
seemed fine.
svnadmin dump stopped at rev 31 and then croaked:
svn: Filesystem has no such representation
svn: svn_fs__bdb_read_rep: no such representation `5c'
svnadmin recover runs fine but doesn't help.
any clues?
Cheers,
CLK

Did you make sure that there were no dangling apache processes?
Well, it was simple enough to do:
svnadmin create new-repo
cat old-dumpfile | svnadmin load new-repo
svnadmin dump broken-repo --incremental -r 776:814 | svnadmin load new-repo
That seems to have the repository back into working order again. I
really wish I know what caused the corruption, though.

yes, i'm very sure of it. the only svnadmin recover i did is _after_
the corruption happened, and i turned off apache before running recover.

the bad import at revision 810 was the very same import of rev 811 later
on, with two files i forgot to remove (.gdbhistory and Makefile.old).
810 is svn import http://svn.elixus.org/repos/member/clkao (without SVN-Simple
in the url path component), while 811 correctly the url for import.
the corruption happened before 811 was committed.
Other than that, the repository was mounted at http://svn.elixus.org/
in addition to http://svn.elixus.org/repos as well as https of both
url. the root mount has some problem when anchor is /, so i mounted
it on /repos also. but / is still there because there are some people
still using it.
Cheers,

I can reproduce this with your repository. What I simply do not
understand is how this might have occured. I mean, the error is
thrown when trying to read the directory entries for your "/member"
directory. But that directory was modified *countless* times revision
637, which would have required reading those directory entries. In
fact, the only time that the node revision for this directory would
have been modified again would have been during deltification.
Can you promise me that nothing freaky happened to this repository,
like someone running 'svnadmin recover' while the repository was being
accessed?
Can you reveal the details of the bad import? Do you still have the
original pre-dump/load repository? I mean, there must be a way to
reproduce the steps which led to this.

I want a tarball of your repository, if such is possible. I have no
real clues for you, especially since adding -v *shouldn't* be adding
any additional codepaths that read represenations. But I'd love to
take a look at your repository. What version of Berkeley?
