[jira] [Created] (KAFKA-21234) MetadataLoader can receive uncommitted data when log reads exceed MAX_BATCH_SIZE_BYTES

Kevin Wu created KAFKA-21234:
--------------------------------

Summary: MetadataLoader can receive uncommitted data when log reads exceed MAX_BATCH_SIZE_BYTES
                 Key: KAFKA-21234
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-21234
             Project: Kafka
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: kraft
            Reporter: Kevin Wu
            Assignee: Kevin Wu

When the metadata layer tries to read a slice of records from KRaft which is greater than `KafkaRaftClient#MAX_BATCH_SIZE_BYTES`, the `RecordsIterator` can return records which are past the HWM. This can lead to a metadata error since uncommitted data should not be visible to the metadata layer.
