[jira] [Created] (LUCENE-4875) Make SorterTemplate.mergeSort run in
linear time on sorted arrays
Adrien Grand created LUCENE-4875:
------------------------------------
Summary: Make SorterTemplate.mergeSort run in linear time on sorted arrays
Key: LUCENE-4875
URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LUCENE-4875
Project: Lucene - Core
Issue Type: Improvement
Reporter: Adrien Grand
Assignee: Adrien Grand
Priority: Trivial
Fix For: 4.3
Through minor modifications, SorterTemplate.mergeSort could run in linear time on sorted arrays, so I think we should do it? The idea is to modify merge so that it returns instantly when compare(pivot-1, pivot) <= 0.
