Overlay not shown while canvas is empty

Hi,

i implemented an selection-overlay with canvas.getOverlays().add(..).

if my canvas is empty (no DOM-Elements, only SVG-Root), there is no overlay
shown,
if there are > 0 elements, it is shown.

any ideas?
