[jira] [Created] (LOG4J2-3605) log4j-to-slf4j: add runtime logback-classic dependency

Piotr Karwasz created LOG4J2-3605:
-------------------------------------

Summary: log4j-to-slf4j: add runtime logback-classic dependency
                 Key: LOG4J2-3605
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/LOG4J2-3605
             Project: Log4j 2
          Issue Type: Improvement
            Reporter: Piotr Karwasz

Since users expect the SLF4J-to-Log4j2 bridge to have a runtime dependency on {{log4j-core}}, we might at least discuss whether to Log4j2-to-SLF4J bridge should have a runtime dependency on {{logback-classic}}.

As I see it, the situation is (almost) perfectly symmetrical. The only logging backend supported by SLF4J, but not Log4j2 is the deprecated Log4j 1.x/Reload4j. I guess we should not take this into account.
