So maven-site-plugin (branch 3.x) works with the restrictions related [here|http://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/MAVEN/Maven+3.x+and+site+plugin]
The last point (regarding configuration) is not fully implemented yet.
But the site plugin works with the current configuration (using reporting section from the pom).
