   Considering the level of ecosystem dependence on pyarrow:
   
   * https://pypistats.org/packages/pyarrow --> 9.4M installs/month
   * https://pypistats.org/packages/numpy --> 42.5M installs/month
   
   Whatever we can do to avoid breakage would be best, my guess is that if NumPy releases without a patched Arrow release, it will break a lot of people's prod systems
