Webapp on RAQ4

Hi,
I've been trying to get Tomcat 4.0.4 to work with Apache 1.3.2 on a RAQ4. 
Tomcat will work by itself, but I keep on getting errors with mod_webapp.so 
no matter how I compile it.
The latest error is:
Setting up Web Service: Syntax error on line 54 of /etc/httpd/conf/httpd.conf:
Cannot load /etc/httpd/modules/mod_webapp.so into server:
/etc/httpd/modules/mod_webapp.so: undefined symbol: pthread_sigmask

Somebody pointed me in the direction of:

but it does not seem to apply as I DO get a list of symbols.

Any ideas?
