migration problem 2.2.0 - 2.3.0 'cannot find or init repository'

> Caused by: org.apache.avalon.phoenix.interfaces.ApplicationException:
> Component named "users-store" failed to pass through the Starting
> stage. (Reason: org.apache.avalon.framework.service.ServiceException:

Why is this?

I have followed all the upgrade instructions from the James website
(remove fetchpop block from config.xml, etc. etc.)

The 2.2.0 installation still works. At least I should say, it still
starts, and runs for a few hours before crashing. I was hoping the
migration would help with delivery problems--we have got hugely clogged
spool, etc. Mail delivery very slow.

Many thanks in advance for advice.

Dear Mr Bagnara

Thank you for your kind attention to our problem. Following please find
our config.xml.

Also, is the patch you wrote last summer advisable for 2.3.0?? I would
like to use it, if so.

Thanking you again in advance for your patience and help, which are much
appreciated.

Ciao,

Maria

Re: migration problem 2.2.0 - 2.3.0 'cannot find or init repository'

Posted by Maria Bustillos <ma...@popula.com>.
Dear Mr. Bagnara et al.,

I got it to run! I thought I would let you know that in addition to
following your instructions re: <spoolrepository>, I also had to remove
all reference to <objectstorage>. I believe that the upgrade
instructions could be made clearer (at
http://james.apache.org/server/2.3.0/upgrade_instructions.html), viz.,
explicit instructions to remove the outer spoolrepository element, and
maybe show a clear example of how to get rid of <objectstorage> correctly.

Thank you very much for your kind and patient help.

Send us your config.xml or explain what did you changed from the default
config.xml

Most likely you changed a repository url and removed one of the path
steps from the url: e.g: db://maildb/table is invalid
db://maildb/table/repositoryname is instead valid.

Stefano
