A question about in-memory stylesheets

I am curious about something, and was hoping someone could answer it for
me:
When I load a stylesheet into memory (StylesheetRoot) and hold onto it
so I can re-use it, are the imported stylesheets also part of that
in-memory object, or do they get reloaded each time I use the
stylesheet?  If they do get reloaded, is there a way to keep them in
memory also?
I'm using the Java version.
