Uninstallation requires original MSI package

Summary: Uninstallation requires original MSI package
           Product: Apache httpd-2.0
           Version: 2.0.43
          Platform: PC
        OS/Version: Windows XP
            Status: NEW
          Severity: Normal
          Priority: Other
         Component: Platform
        AssignedTo: bugs@httpd.apache.org
        ReportedBy: apache-bugzilla@omershenker.net

I'm running Win XP Pro, but this problem also occurred on Win 2000 AS. I have the latest version of MSI. This problem affects all recent MSI builds.

When I try to uninstall Apache (for example, to install a new version), MSI asks for the original installation package. (I don't know much about MSI, but normal Windows programs don't need this--perhaps they save uninstallation information in a small MSI package somewhere?)

If I weren't used to this problem, this would be a severe issue, because old versions of the MSI builds aren't available on the mirrors anywhere. I suppose a simple but ugly solution would be to keep all the old MSI builds around on the mirrors, but this just takes up space.
