I'm happy to take on some of the work with guidance from fellow devs who know more about modules.  !/jira/images/icons/emoticons/smile.png!   Do we want to rename namespaces like so:

org.apache.tika.core.metadata.Metadata

org.apache.tika.core.parsers.AutoDetectParser

and for actual parsers..., e.g.

org.apache.tika.parsers.pdf.PDFParser
