The shutdown script does not seem to work properly on Fedora Core 7.
Tried with both 5.5.17 and 5.5.25.

Here's the error that I get with both...

Work around is to use 'pkill -9 java'.

This is nearly always a configuration issue (DNS, hostname, iptables, etc). I
have seen many reports of this problem and haven't yet seen one that is a Tomcat
issue.

Please use the users list in the first instance.

There have been several threads about similar issues on the users list recently.
You may want to take a look at the archives.
