hebrew charakter positioning errors

Several of the Hebrew letters (Hananiah) are backwards (mirror images of actual
letters) and some are incomplete or strange in other ways.
I downloaded the Hebrew language package, but there was no improvement.
Any idea what's causing these issues and what might remedy them?
