[jira] [Commented] (NIFI-436) SplitText should allow changing the
endline regex
[ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/NIFI-436?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=14652652#comment-14652652 ]
Michael Moser commented on NIFI-436:
------------------------------------
Since we are building a wish list for the SplitText processor, it would be awesome if the Line Split Count and Header Line Count properties could support the expression language.
The intent for Header Line Count support for EL is that each file could have a different header (a variable number of lines), but some other processor determines just how many lines the header has and places that value into an attribute.
Another thought is to make SplitText processor detect which lines are header lines, through a regular expression that is applied to lines until it finds a line that does not match. This thought might be giving SplitText more power than it deserves, though, under the "do one thing well" philosophy.

> I have a CSV file in a format that inidcates the end of a line with a crlf. This file has embedded comments that have lf in them.
> When I run this file through the split text processor, it is splitting at the LF characters.
> I think it would be nice to have a setting to change the line ending characters for splitting text.
> I can't find anything in the documentation that indicates how I would change this behavior, so I assume it does not exist.
> Also, I would be willing to try and implement this improvement, but I can't seem to find the source for the SplitTextProcessor.
