OS X Crash Log

After several months I tried to startup OpenOffice but it crashed before
displaying any windows. I'm running Mac OS 10.11.6 (El Capitan) and the last
time I ran OpenOffice was probably before I upgraded. I tried installing OO
version 4.1.3 but this produced the same result.

The crash log says:

Thread 0 Crashed:: Dispatch queue: com.apple.main-thread

The complete crash log is attached. Can anyone suggest how I can avoid this?

Thanks

Do you still experience the bug?
If so, I will reopen the issue.

Users on the French forum confirm that macOS 10.12.1 solves this crash.

--- Comment #6 from Norman <nj...@tpg.com.au> ---
I can't comment on whether the Sierra upgrade resolves this issue. However
after some experimentation I've found that for me at least the problem is
intermittent.

Open Office seems fail at startup if I have Microsoft Word running. If I quit
word then it will start fine. It therefore appears that the problem may relate
to some contention between Open Office and MS Office.

Hope this is of some help

I have heard that this bug is solved by Apple and updating MacOS Sierra to
10.12.1 should solve it?

Can anyone with an affected mac confirm this?

@Norman: does the crash happen only on the Startcenter?

Try running OpenOffice from with the Terminal.app, open the word processor with
the following command:

/Applications/OpenOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice -writer

The crash report look different from bug 127143 (this bug happens on iMacs, but
only with macOS Sierra, not El Capitan)

Use Open Office daily.... problem occurred suddenly after conversion to MacOS
10.12 (Sierra) on MacPro mid-2010. Have reinstalled Open Office but problem
persists - cannot even open the application to check Java or other settings.

Before this hard fail, it crashed when closing files and other random events.

Opened with terminal.app using
/Applications/OpenOffice.app/Contents/MacOS/soffice -writer
That at least opens.... can see Java 1.8.0_112 (twice) but neither is selected.

Save file, open another file - OO goes thru a "verifying OO" cycle as if a new
copy of the app.

Close files, restart OO - IMMEDIATE ERROR.
