Tony, thanks a lot for contributing a patch file. Do you have any samples that you can share that can be used for end to end testing? Also, I request that you take a look at our functional test suite that uses mock servers under the module gateway-test to see if you can add tests for spark there.  org.apache.hadoop.gateway.GatewayBasicFuncTest is a big class but has a lot of good examples.
