Need help in Tomcat 4.1.29

Hi all
        I want to add a particular directory in tomcat's shared classpath.
The directory is outside tomcat home directory.
        I can do this by adding this path in the tomcat's startup classpath.
But it throws some other exceptions.

        Is there any way i can do this ?
