> We've had a number of complaints surrounding contention inside MetaDataEndpointImpl when we're constructing a PTable instance and reading from the stats table. In 4.7 and beyond, there are some new configuration properties which can be used to reduce some of this contention; however, it has been pointed out that doing an RPC to read the stats table while holding a rowlock is a "bad idea".
