   Hi @dengziming thanks for the update. There are a few more minor changes to the KIP.
   One is that after some discussion with people more familiar with clients, it makes sense to remove the UNSUPPORTED_VERSION error and only return UNKNOWN_TOPIC_ID when the topic ID is not found on the broker. (See: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/KAFKA-12976)
