I can't reproduce this with the latest 5.5.x code. I get:

<div>...</div>

Can you test with 5.5.25 or better yet a build using the latest source from svn
and see if you still see this problem? If you do, please attach the simplest
possible JSP that exhibits this bug to this issue so we can investigate further.
