[jira] [Commented] (HIVE-14624) LLAP: Use FQDN for all communication

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HIVE-14624?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15437437#comment-15437437 ]

Siddharth Seth commented on HIVE-14624:
---------------------------------------

[~gopalv] - what exactly needs to be done here?

There have been a lot of issues with hostnames not matching between the AM and the LLAP instances, depending on the environment. This still persists. May require a change in Tez as well to get things to match up.

What has worked reasonably is to use the hostname provided by YARN via the environment, since that is the same for AMs and LLAP instances. However, outside of YARN, this becomes quite messy.

> In systems where the hostnames do not match FQDN, calling the getCanonicalHostName() will allow for resolution of the hostname when accessing from a different base domain.
