[users@httpd] Apache logs to Oracle DB

Hello,

I am trying to store the Apache logs to an Oracle DB for analysis purposes.
I have looked for it on the net and found many different ways.
What would be the recommended/safer way to do this? By safe I mean that don't want the server to crash in case the DB is down, etc.
Could you please point me to some up-to date information on how to best do this?
