12.0 Beta available

Hi NetCAT folks,

A first beta1 is available to test for NetCAT program.

https://builds.apache.org/view/M-R/view/NetBeans/job/netbeans-TLP/job/netbea
ns/job/release120/2/artifact/dist/netbeans/

If PR are too sensitive to be merged for 12.0 it would be nice to put
milestone 12.1.

Best Regards

Eric

I’d suggest also including all DevCharly (i.e., Karl Tauber) FlatLAF PRs in
beta 2.

Thanks for fixing that! I think we should stick to beta2 next, another
numbering could be confusing — and it impacts all of Maven, which is pretty
much everyone right now, aside from Gradle.

RE: 12.0 Beta available

Posted by Eric Barboni <sk...@apache.org>.
Thank for the finding,

The fix is here
https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/2029

As we need synchro with master a PR was created in this intention (a direct commit was done to hide a module)
https://github.com/apache/netbeans/pull/2028

To allow testing we could create a beta11 (not 2) by merging pr 2029 and 2028
Non impacted tester can stay on beta1,
Blocked tester can go to beta11 and do further finding not having too wait beta2.

That's up to us.

Best Regards
Eric

Has anyone else tried this? With 12.0-beta1 under JDK 11.0.6, both with
and without importing previous userdir, project creation never
completes. I just get the Cylon progress indicator for "Create project"
in the status bar forever.

I do see this, although I don't know if it's related:

java.io.IOException: Timeout while opening connection to
https://netbeans.apache.org/nb/updates/12.0/updates.xml.gz?unique=0f4e3f24e-a4fe-476a-9ac6-14be5bb18f0f_4377dd66-6067-444d-8b40-054afe128770

That's how, not ideal, though it should work.

What is going to be the preferred way to create JavaFX projects in 12.0?

Thanks a lot for this work and on time, great.

We're looking at setting up parts of NetCAT, maybe not all of it, e.g.,
maybe Java-specific only for the moment, this week as soon as possible.

Though what we really need is for people to verify that the test specs are
good and ready for 12.0 usage prior to that:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/NETBEANS/NetCAT+12.0+Test+Spec+Reviews

However, some specs are certainly ready and we could start with those.
