Well if what is likely the JS will require calls to the
proprietary/closed/expensive WURFL service crap, they will fail with the
Open "Hacker" community embracing all those JS projects from Node.js to
Angular.js, Vert.X etc. If it was to offer the actual WURFL resources (the
XML file) directly to a server running Node.js, etc. then closing those
files away will fail, either way, jumping the bandwagon (a bit what
Spring/Pivotal keeps doing with every buzzword from Vert.x to BigData) will
further drive WURFL into isolation and irrelevance or make an end to its
closed ecosystem[?]

The fact that the service relies on a js rather than being an open API
is telling.
But the idea of integrating DDR API calls and their possible responses
in a client script is an interesting idea, not that they have taken it
to that extent.
I also find it telling the press release and the name of the script
itself refer to "WURFL".

ScientiaMobile could do to extort Ten Thousands of Euros or Dollars from
users dumb enough not to use proper alternatives...
