I installed mod_pagespeed following the instructions here:

PageSpeed is now active on my server when looking at the source code. Now I need to add my custom directives, but I can't figure how
I tried editing /etc/apache2/conf.modules.d/510_pagespeed.conf
and I added "ModPagespeed Off" to this file just to test if I can control pagespeed
But now rebuilding httpd returns an error:

After this, all websites hosted on the server are down. If I empty the file "510_pagespeed.conf" then everything works again
Where am I supposed to put the directives using WHM + CentOs 7 ?

It found tons of files. Is there any way to know which one is the config used by apache?
i'm using cpnginx (cpanel addon for Nginx) but i'm looking for the apache conf, not nginx

I love mod_pagespeed but this is so complicated to install, just guessing which conf file to use takes days :(
So I completely disabled cpnginx to remove some noise. Libertaire.net should be running only on Apache now. But I still have the same problem if Ii try to edit /etc/apache2/conf.d/includes/pre_main_global.conf then the server will crash and the websites won't load...
So I tried starting over and following the instructions for EasyApache4 here: https://github.com/apache/incubator-pagespeed-cpanel
But i'm stuck, as soon as I do this command:
`rpmbuild --rebuild ea-apache24-mod_pagespeed-latest-stable.src.rpm`
SSH will just hang on there and it's stuck

Trying to use mod_pagespeed with cpanel is soooo frustrating compared to Plesk...
Using Plesk I just have to copy and paste the directive into Plesk Admin Panel and then BOOM everything works in a few seconds. No messing with random conf files, no messing with ssh, no server crashing... Here's a screenshot of another server with Plesk just to show how easy it is http://prntscr.com/tg1lc5 ... i am surprised WHM is more expensive and has more features, but it's much more harder to use than plesk :(

Yes, if I leave 510_pagespeed.conf empty, all works and page speed is enabled.
But as soon as I add anything to this file, the web server won't start.
Yes, I can see the filters are enabled when 510_pagespeed.conf is left blank. I also think the filters are set in another config file ... but where? How can I find this file?

If you leave 510_pagespeed.conf file empty all works?
You can try to add url parameter, when pagespeed is working, https://yoursite.com/?PageSpeedFilters=+debug, then in the html code of the page you can view what filters are enabled. If pagespeed is working and you have some filters enabled, then these filters are set in other config file.
In other hand, the 1st error you reported is related to polkit service, a security service. Unfortunately I don´t know nothing about it, so can´t advice how to configure it.

ok i see i will get no help here so i'm giving up and uninstalling pagespeed. Support is VERY BAD and just trying to find the configuration file is a pain in the ass and you didn't help me at all.

But for example, for https://www.libertaire.net/ the server is nginx not apache.
Maybe you have some proxy cache config? Some like user -> nginx +pagespeed -> apache?
If these are the config, you need to find where the nginx config files are, normal installations, w/o any panel, store these files under /etc/nginx/...

Trying to use mod_pagespeed with cpanel is soooo frustrating compared to Plesk...
Using Plesk I just have to copy and paste the directive into Plesk Admin Panel and then BOOM everything works in a few seconds. No messing with random conf files, no messing with ssh, no server crashing... Here's a screenshot of another server with Plesk just to show how easy it is http://prntscr.com/tg1lc5 ... i am surprised WHM is more expensive and has more features, but it's much more harder to use than plesk :(

lol what a joke pagespeed is telling me to contact cpanel and then cpanel is telling me to contact pagespeed. AWFUL SUPPORT!! Pagespeed is TERRIBLE. Thanks for nothing

Hello,
As my colleagues previously mentioned, unfortunately, cPanel Support is only able to assist with inquiries related to, or caused by cPanel, or the basic configuration of the bundled software. Since mod_pagespeed is not provided by cPanel, the previous links and steps were provided as a courtesy.
The third-party module 'mod_pagespeed' is available via their official GitHub Repository here: https://github.com/pagespeed/cpanel
Also looking at the server it seems that currently, Apache is running:
[15:31:43 server root@93508003 /etc/apache2/conf.modules.d]cPs# /scripts/restartsrv_httpd --status
httpd (/usr/sbin/httpd -k start) is running as root with PID 16552 (pidfile+/proc check method).
With that being said, I did some research and I was able to find these link related to the error you are seeing: (The errors are in Apache's log file)

I don´t know what solution is the better for you, as far I don´t know your technical skills or your needs.
I don´t use any panel to admin my site. Linux, wordpress and all the stuff it need, nginx from the nginx site and the pagespeed module, these 2 last compiled cause no packages are available for nginx. But if you use apache, you can use the available pagespeed pakages.

Maybe the problem is not pagespeed module rather than the scripts these panels and tools use.

Well, if you have access to a ssh session (or telnet) to the server you can try
`grep -ir ModPagespeed /directory-you-think-config-files-are`
this command seek for ModPagespeed in the content of files, no matter if uppercase or lowercase (-i) and recursive to all subdirs (-r)
