Java Telnet Library - scalability

Hi,

Could anyone please let me know, if the Java Telnet Library(
commons-net-1.4.0-src.tar.gz ) scales well if 1500 connections are
initiated at the same time?

If it is not scalable to handle 1500 connections at the same time, would
java.nio.channels ( Multiplexing I/O ) be a better option?

I am learning java recently & would like your feedback.
