[jira] [Commented] (MESOS-6939) Attributes on Resources

    [ https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/MESOS-6939?page=com.atlassian.jira.plugin.system.issuetabpanels:comment-tabpanel&focusedCommentId=15962126#comment-15962126 ]

Keith Chambers commented on MESOS-6939:
---------------------------------------

This is a common request with:

1) Framework developers such as DataStax and Alluxio where their product has support for storage tiering

2) Operators that want DSE and Alluxio tiered storage capabilities, or even just to co-locate multiple stateful workloads on agents (aka slaves) with mixed SSD and HDD volumes where one framework uses SSD volumes (i.e., Cassandra) and the other frameworks uses HDD volumes (e.g, Kafka).

> Resources (particularly disks) need attributes so that they can be selectively consumed by frameworks depending on characteristics like whether they are SSDs.
