website is ready
Hi,
I have the website ready, but cannot checkout the SVN repository for it.
Can someone please tell me the exact SVN commands that need to be executed,
starting from checkout?

Actually, I have sent you the patch with some of these fixes, which I can not
commit because of my permission troubles on this directory.
Thanks,

Roman,
Just want to give a bit of the timeline update.
Right now we are actively working on changing some data grid APIs in order
to add full JCache (JSR 107) standard support. I don't think it makes sense
to release the project now, as we would have to break the APIs shortly
after the 1st release. Given the fact that Christmas and New Year are
somewhat of slow times, we anticipate the 1st release to be early in
February.
We are also updating the website and documentation in the meantime as well
as all the screencasts. There are lots of changes there having to do with
new project name and changed APIs.
I will keep everyone on this list posted of our progress.

Now that I actually had time to review the content,
here's what needs to be fixed:
* community link needs to get rid of vectoring people
to the GG email address and to a particular person.
That's a big no-no
* I haven't seen anybody adverstise private mailing lists,
but then again its not that big of a deal
* it would be nice if MLs had links to archives
* JavaDOC/ScalaDOC and wiki needs to be migrated to
ASF infra ASAP
Finally I'm not sure that the downdload link pointing to
the GG binaries is appropriate. Perhaps the blurb you
have next to it makes it obvious that its not ASF binary,
but it would be best to have your first ASF release
ASAP.
Thanks,
Roman.

Do Shift-Ctrl-R a few times - it's a combination of load-balancer + mirror
sites that don't have all the content propagated yet.

Thanks Brane - I was going to highlight a few of these, but you have a way
longer list that I could've think of.
PPMC: I think we have covered some of these in the off-line conversations
about "Powered by" pages and such. But direct marketing advertisement
shouldn't be present, for sure.

Thanks Brane,
Generally, all links to anything "GridGain" is a place holder. We
understand that there should not be a reference to the GridGain project and
plan to replace them.
We will be addressing all your comments shortly.

Re: website is ready
Posted by Branko Čibej <br...@apache.org>.
So ... nice site, but it's missing a few important bits, and there are a
few bits too many:
* There is no entity called "Apache Ignite" that could hold copyright
to the site. The only entity involved is the ASF. The copyright
notice should be changed. It's also nice, though by no means
required, to include the ASF logo somewhere on the site.
* ASF trademark references are missing. See, for example, the
copyright notice on the bottom of the left column of
http://subversion.apache.org/
* There are links to GridGain's twitter, LinkedIn and G+ pages. No
way. This is not a GirdGain project; it is an ASF project, and the
ASF is not in the business of providing advertising space for
commercial entities.
* The same goes for the download links. Sources must be hosted on ASF
infrastructure (and mirrors), even if they're unofficial sources. I
understand this will take a bit of work, but even an URL for
anonymous Git clone from the ASF servers is better than a link to
some commercial site.
o To clarify: what's currently in ASF Git is obviously not ready
to be used; and what's on GG's download area may be; but see
above about the ASF not being an advertising service.
* "We embrase open source" ... apart from the typo, there's really no
reason to write something like that on an ASF project web site. :)
Sounds like marketspeak again ...
TL;DR: GridGain marketing has no place on an ASF web site. OTOH it's
fine to list GG as providing additional services on top of Ignite; for
example, see:
https://subversion.apache.org/packages.html
which lists a number of commercial providers.
While there's no need change everything immediately, the important
points I made above can and should be done quickly (I could do them
myself, but I'd rather the PPMC takes care of it than a mentor). Please
note that these are all hard requirements for graduation, so the site
will have to be aligned with ASF policy eventually; the sooner, the better.
