VOTE Apache OODT 0.2 Release

Hi Folks,

I have posted a 1st release candidate for the Apache OODT 0.2 release. The
source code is at:

http://people.apache.org/~pramirez/apache-oodt-0.2/rc1/

For more detailed information, see the included CHANGES.txt file for details on
release contents and latest changes. The release was made using the OODT
release process, documented on the Wiki here:

https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OODT/Release+Process

The release was made from the OODT 0.2 branch (r1060397) at:

http://svn.apache.org/repos/asf/oodt/branches/0.2/

Please vote on releasing these packages as Apache OODT 0.2. The vote is
open for the next 72 hours.

Only votes from OODT PMC are binding, but folks are welcome to check the
release candidate and voice their approval or disapproval. The vote passes
if at least three binding +1 votes are cast.

[ ] +1 Release the packages as Apache OODT 0.2

[ ] -1 Do not release the packages because...

Thanks!
Paul Ramirez

P.S. Here is my +1. Maiden voyage with this release process so if you find stuff let me know.

Hey Guys,

Sorry I didn't respond to this earlier but my DSL modem is essentially on its last legs. Even though the modem is getting 5+ Mbps its only giving me < 0.2 Mbps. Verizon is sending me a new one tomorrow. I'll roll a new RC tomorrow.

Thanks,
Paul

Actually I just found OODT-118 [1], which is definitely a blocker as the curator can't update the catalog metadata b/c of it.

Re: VOTE Apache OODT 0.2 Release

Hey Guys,

No problem, hardest part of the release is generating a key for the first time. Let me know as these things get fixed and I should be able to roll a new RC fairly quickly. Plus this means some of the minor changes SK made will get in too which is great.

Cheers,
Paul

Hi Paul,

-1 on this release candidate unfortunately. While testing at NEON, we found several other oddities and bugs:

1. that the TestCatalogServiceLocal test failed on a fresh CentOS Linux install.
2. the curator service *mostly* worked, except ingestion would keep failing with a strange error msg saying it can't find the Reference class.
3. the FinalFileLocationExtractor causes errors on Ingestion. I'm not sure why since I wrote a unit test for it too and that passes, so there must be something weird going on.

I'll try and tackle 2 and 3 and file JIRA issues for them, I'll file a JIRA issue for #1 too but bfoster might be the best person to figure that out.

Thanks for hard work -- I think we need another RC...

Cheers,
Chris
