I keep this bug closed, and will not be able to provide a better testcase
before mid of next week. However I have two dumps (SoapEnvelope.toString())
from our custom provider, one showing the response using the current CVS
Head, one showing the response using my (akward) patch. The first one does
not encode umlauts.

The reason you don't run into problems is that you use the same platform to
write and read your characters. I do have nusoap clients only.
