[jira] [Created] (HBASE-17775) [Thrift] Correcting wording about transaction support for mutateRows/mutateRowsTs

Daisuke Kobayashi created HBASE-17775:
-----------------------------------------

             Summary: [Thrift] Correcting wording about transaction support for mutateRows/mutateRowsTs
                 Key: HBASE-17775
                 URL: https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HBASE-17775
             Project: HBase
          Issue Type: Bug
          Components: Thrift
            Reporter: Daisuke Kobayashi
            Priority: Trivial

It doesn't make sense that mutateRows/mutateRowsTs API (over {{thrift}}) says *'transaction' is aborted* if an exception is thrown while HBase only supports a single row transcation, ACID-wise. This feels misleading statement for users.

https://github.com/apache/hbase/blob/rel/1.3.0/hbase-thrift/src/main/resources/org/apache/hadoop/hbase/thrift/Hbase.thrift#L557-L592

{code}
  /**
   * Apply a series of batches (each a series of mutations on a single row)
   * in a single transaction. If an exception is thrown, then the
   * transaction is aborted. Default current timestamp is used, and
   * all entries will have an identical timestamp.
   */
{code}

This patch does make change from {{transaction}} to {{attempt}}.
