Virtual Server Question

I've had a few customers ask if they could have a "virtual server with xxx
amount of disk space" which will allow them to put as many domains on it as
they would like, giving them their own httpd.conf file, and ability to add
users/passwords and such.  I've seen others do this, but don't know if it's
apache related, or a special install/config of linux.  Could someone point
me in the direction of where I could look for more info on how to do this?
