[jira] [Resolved] (HDFS-4844) Access to HDFS

Chris Nauroth resolved HDFS-4844.
---------------------------------

    Resolution: Invalid
      Assignee: Chris Nauroth

Hi Davis,

I recommend asking this question on the Hadoop user mailing list. Instructions for subscribing to the mailing list are available here:

http://hadoop.apache.org/general_lists.html#User

I'm going to resolve this issue as invalid. We use jira for tracking feature development and bug fixes, but not for usage questions, as per the documentation here:

http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/InvalidJiraIssues

However, here is a quick response to help get you moving in the right direction. I'm not aware of any existing Perl bindings to HDFS. (They might exist and I'm just not aware of them.) One easy integration option would be WebHDFS, which is an HTTP/REST interface into the functionality of HDFS:

http://hadoop.apache.org/docs/current/hadoop-project-dist/hadoop-hdfs/WebHDFS.html

If for some reason HTTP isn't appropriate for your use case, then you could also explore using Perl FFI to call libhdfs, which is a C binding to the HDFS client API:

http://wiki.apache.org/hadoop/LibHDFS

I hope this helps. Please take any follow-up questions to the user list. Thank you!

> Hello,
> I'm currently working on the hadoop framework.
> I'm trying to publish the statistics from the stored data (in hdfs) in my web interface.
> I want to know if there is a possibility to access the filesystem hdfs by a script Perl ?
> Is there a perl lib to download ?
