perlio.t failure with non-threaded perl

I was trying to track down some of the $process->pool issues and thought it
might have something to do with threads, so I build a bleedperl without
-Dusethreads. test 7 from perlio.t (eof) fails - all others are ok.

# This is a test: 12460
# testing : end of file
# expected: 1
# received: ''
not ok 7

# Failed test 7 in /src/modperl-2.0/t/response/TestAPR/perlio.pm at line 166

Thanks Geoff, I know about it:
http://archive.develooper.com/perl5-porters@perl.org/msg93164.html

Didn't have any luck to resolve it so far and Nick Ing-Simmons is not around :(
